The Loutrel

Me and my husband spent our NYE at the Loutrel and we had an incredible time! Our highlights: clean and modern room, the bathroom cabinets😍, amazing espresso machine in the room, homemade granola at breakfast, rooftop for charming views, live music and fantastic eats and drinks at the Veranda Lounge all at a more than reasonable price! All of the staff were kind and helpful, the manager Karl was exceptional and made sure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest extent possible. Anyone that is on the fence with ideas of where to stay in Charleston; look no further. This is IT!

For me, great service at a luxurious hotel, with updated, beautiful rooms, and fantastic amenities is THE DEFINITION of vacation. I spend hours researching hotels and resorts all over the world. This hotel absolutely did not disappoint. If you are searching for luxury, comfort, five-star service, hospitality, beautiful, bright, spaces, and just an overall awesome place to stay in the perfect location, look no further. We had a Traditional King room. The mattress was perfect - firm but not too hard, and I did not wake up sore (I almost always do at hotels), the pillows were firm and matched the mattress well, too. The room was spacious, well-designed, high-ceilings, awesome light fixtures, artwork, bathroom (there's even a Dyson hairdryer), and one of the best parts, all of the mini-bar snacks are FREE. Cold Fiji water greeted me every time I came back to the room. A selection of sodas, lemonades, and cold brew coffee (very good cold brew coffee) were provided. Wine glasses, a wine key, a coffee maker, etc. rounded out a beautiful bar area. The snacks were complimentary throughout the hotel and featured local brands, and included some gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. In the evening, the hotel also has an evening happy hour where you can enjoy a complimentary cocktail, glass of wine, or mocktail and chat with other guests in the lounge. My husband and I really enjoyed this opportunity to connect with others and ask the extremely hospitable hotel staff their recommendations for best food, best bars, best tours -- you name it. The valet was always available with our car whenever we needed it. I have really high standards when it comes to hotels and The Loutrel matched or EXCEEDED them all.

Each day was brightened by their delightful breakfast and afternoon happy hour, a testament to their commitment to guest satisfaction. The room itself was a haven of cleanliness and comfort. It was, without a doubt, the cleanest hotel room I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The meticulous attention to detail was evident in every corner of the space, ensuring a restful and luxurious stay. Location-wise, The Loutrel couldn't be more ideally situated. Nestled comfortably within walking distance to all of Charleston's prime attractions, it allowed us to explore the city with ease and convenience. However, what truly sets The Loutrel apart is its exceptional staff. Each member we interacted with was not just friendly and courteous; they went above and beyond to make us feel like family. This level of personalized service is a rarity, making our stay not just comfortable but truly memorable. A special mention must be made of the complimentary drinks and snacks. Sourced locally, they provided a delightful and authentic taste of Charleston's culinary scene. This thoughtful touch added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay. The design of The Loutrel deserves its own accolades. It strikes the perfect balance between modern luxury and the historical charm of Charleston. The hotel's aesthetic complements the city's ambiance, creating a space that is both comfortable and captivating. If you're planning a trip to Charleston and searching for accommodation, your search ends at The Loutrel. My only regret is having to leave this wonderful haven, but I eagerly look forward to my next visit. The Loutrel is not just a hotel; it's a destination in its own right.

If you check in and your room is on the side of the hotel that is on Lingaurd St and you need a 6:30-7:00AM wake up call every morning you’re in lucky. The city trash truck will spend 20-30 minutes banging around trash cans and breaking glass every single morning on a week day. If you like to sleep past this time bring ear plugs or request to be placed on the other side of the hotel. Everything else is amazing but I don’t think I’d spend that kind of money to stay here again.
